PALESTINE: WFTU ON THE OCASSION OF THE NAKBA DAY

13 May 2020

Every year  the Palestinian People organize demonstrations on the occasion of  the murder of 15.000 Palestinians on the 15th May 1948 and the displacement of other 750.000 that time period (Nakba Day).
This year commemoration is marked by the unacceptable attempt of Israel to annex the occupied Palestinian territories of the Jordan Valley in West bank, on the basis of “Trump’s Plan”.
The World Federation of Trade Unions, its 100 million militant workers who live and struggle in 132 countries all over the world, once more condemn such plans of the imperialists that intensify the occupation, exploitation and crimes against the Palestinian People and their land. We demand that the settlements leave from the occupied territories.
We stably fight for the recognition of the independent Palestinian state in the borders of 1967, with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital. Moreover, for the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to Palestine and for the liberation of all Palestinian political prisoners.
We also support the demand of militant trade unionists in Palestine, for substantial measures of protection of the Palestinian workers, both in terms of health and in terms of job and income security, during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The WFTU will continue the struggle against the strategy of the state of Israel and its allies about Palestine. We call on our Palestinian brothers and sisters to continue  fighting for a life and work with dignity in an independent and sovereign country and the workers of all countries to intensify their internationalist solidarity.
