The WFTU is announcing the passing away of Gilda Chacon Bravo

 

With great shock and grief, the WFTU is announcing the death of comrade Gilda Chacon Bravo, cadre of the CTC and the WFTU today in La Havana having suffering from cancer.

The WFTU family is losing a dear member, a longtime militant fighter and an internationalist who dedicated all her life in the struggles for the international working class for a better life.

Gilda represented the WFTU in all continents, in many international missions and to the international organizations, always projecting the rights of the ordinary people fighting against social injustice and imperialism.

During her long course in the trade union movement Gilda has served the WFTU from various positions always with effectiveness, decisiveness and orientation to the principles and aims of the class oriented trade union movement.

For many years Gilda was working in International Relations Department of CTC Cuba and from this position she was representing CTC in the Regional office of Latin America and Caribbean.

Until the 17th World Trade Union Congress she was representing CTC also in the WFTU Secretariat, and to better serve this mission Gilda lived in Athens in the WFTU Head office for a long period of time.

We express our cordial condolences to her family and to our comrades and brothers in CTC Cuba, our thoughts are with them.
